Operations Specialist

Coquitlam, British Columbia
Please join our team as an Operations Specialist you will focus on the daily operations, including safety, logistics maintenance, supervision, inspections and customer relations.  Our Operations Specialist will be organized, computer savvy, have strengths in communicating effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including managers, supervisors and customers.  An ability to excel in a fast paced environment with an entrepreneurial mindset is crucial for this position!
 
What will you do?
  • Provide a lead role in managing the logistics and inventories at our three facilities. This is providing schedules on a daily basis to several haulers involved in the movement of waste and recyclables to several destinations;
  • Support the Operations team in managing the various vendors that are essential to our sites.
  • Provide a lead role in the managing of our recyclables from receiving them at our facilities to the delivery to the end use sites.
  • Provide a lead role in dealing with customers.
  • Coach employees to provide them the tools to do their jobs more effectively especially in the diversion of recyclables from the waste stream.
  • Support the supervisory group as well as Site Managers in various capacities including filling their roles in their absence.
  • Assist Operations team on completion and submission of reports in a timely manner;
  • Initiate and be assigned special projects that will make the operation at all three facilities improve in various facets including increased efficiency, increased safety, better customer service, and/or environmental improvements.
 
What will you bring?
  • Relevant post-secondary degree preferably in a technical field
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of the waste management or transportation industry an asset
  • Logistics experience considered an asset
  • Experience with data entry and the generation of reports
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team scenario
  • Experience providing customer service and the ability to act with diplomacy and professionalism
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft applications
  • A commitment to contribute to a positive work environment
  • A progressive approach to safety to our organization
  • Ability to work well within a multi-cultural environment
  • While located out of the Coquitlam facility, the ability to travel to other areas including but not limited to our North Shore and Surrey facilities
  • A friendly personality combined with a “roll-up your sleeves and get it done attitude”!
