Millwright Apprentice

The Millwright Apprentice works closely with the Maintenance Manager and other Maintenance personnel to ensure increased reliability of the mobile equipment, fleet and stationary compactors. This role also assists in monitoring compliance with safety and other regulations. Generally, the operation is a near 24 hour per day facility 363 days of the year.  The location for this role is Coquitlam, with frequent travel to the other facilities located in North Vancouver and Surrey.

Working hours: 8-10 hour shift rotations and possibly weekends/holidays as required.
 
What will you do?
  • Be knowledgeable and practice safe procedures with respect to LOTO, fall arrest, hot work permits and confined space;
  • Maintain proper log books of all maintenance activities;
  • Assist in managing inventory levels of critical replacement parts (internally & externally) in the most cost effective and efficient manner;
  • Perform different jobs as assigned by Maintenance Manager;
  • Participate in Health & Safety initiatives.
 
What will you bring?
  • At least 1 year experience as a helper/apprentice is an asset;
  • Technical skills – know how to apply to various types of equipment and machinery;
  • Bring a “roll up your sleeves” and “can-do” attitude;
  • Flexibility to sometimes work outside the regular working schedule;
  • Excellent communication in both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
 As per company policy, this position is designated as Safety Sensitive.
